News from Jami and from Paul and Rod

To all of you who responded (or are now responding) to yesterday's e-blast for updates, thank you! Among others, that's you, Paul Skones, thanks for letting us know you're still in Puyallup.

From many miles farther away comes this update from Jami Sales:

"I am tickled to be completely retired now, and we even turned the fair business over to the next generation who are doing a great job. They will celebrate 100 years of the Sales family at the fair in just a few years. We now have the 5th generation working. I try to get back once a year and enjoy being asked to work on special projects once in a while.

"My husband Jamie Reno and I have been living on the Big Island now for 17 years, in a rural community of 5-acre zoning. It reminds us both of the rural parts of Puyallup and South Hill when we were young. Heaven knows that's unrecognizable now. We love it here at a slight elevation on the windward side, so no air conditioning is needed. Life is a much slower pace here, with a premium spent on time with friends and some family I now have on the island, too. We shoot for a day a week at the beach, and still appreciate the beauty of this lightly populated island. We've traveled a lot and are very happy to be right where we are these days!

"I still miss my old friends [and our classmates] Dave Spears and Chris Winnie and talk to her widower in Alaska a few times each year. He and I scattered her ashes in the beautiful Kenai River, right where she wanted. Dave was the last of his family but he is remembered by many friends and all of my family. We had a party and flew his ashes over the Hawaii coastline by balloons,  just as he wanted. He was accompanied by some great notes from beloved friends."

A while back, Rodney Richardson also sent in an address update--yep, he's in Puyallup, too--with a photo. (Thanks so much. Shall we see you in person at the next reunion?)
