Aug. 27 a couple of dozen hardy Cardinals gathered at Rollie's Tavern for beer, birthday cake and sundry other refreshments in celebration of our mutual 60th birthdays. In the group were
Tom Bondo,
Doug Cail, Linda Carlson, Steve Elske, George Ford and wife
Gail Berntsen (class of 70, cousin of
Janice and niece of Parkland fourth grade teacher Ida),
Pauline Goodman, Randy Ness (first time he's ever attended a reunion gathering),
Brian Johnson, Jeff Johnson, Connie Kazda, Burt Kreidler (who has taken dozens of pounds off his frame and, we assume, added dozens of years to his life expectancy as a result),
Mike LeDuc, Bob Matson and wife Qing,
Steve McKanna, Morry Milsten, Sharon Olive, Ruth Olsen, Tommy Parker (with great news about Ray and Laurie),
Rose Russo, Barbara Smith and...[if your name is not here, sing out and you'll get added to the list].
Karla Parker had made a brief appearance, dropping off Tom before heading to another event. Most of us also enjoyed a chat with proprietor Rollie Moore, class of 1966, who says he has a home at Clear Lake, not far from
Pam Wiklund.
Rumor has it that Connie and Burt are planning something for next year, and YOU can help by providing contact information for classmates.
Oh, and speaking of new contact info, Tommy reports that
Laurie Lockridge and his brother
Ray Parker are returning west! One ranch is sold, Laurie's already here caring for her mother, and Ray will be en route soon. Welcome back!
Ruth reports she ran into
Beth Frick, class of 68, at Winco on 72nd. Doug regaled one end of the table with a tale about underwear-clad Morry opening the door of their college house in the early 70s to a young woman who wanted instructions on a shotgun. He also reported his son is off to CWU, his and Morry's alma mater, for freshman year. Rose cut her visit short because of a daughter who'd been hurried to the Gig Harbor ER with jellyfish stings.
